What an over-hyped game! It's decent, but certainly overrated.

User Rating: 7 | Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII PSP
After finished Crisis Core, I realize people must have an irrational love for Final Fantasy VII. Don't get me wrong, it's a moderately fun game but certainly not great. In the first place the gameplay is OK but shallow. Plus, I played through the entire game and still really have no idea what the DMW (the replacement for random experience and spells) was really doing. And I suspect I'm not alone. Thus, I did not get a satisfying feeling that I was invested in leveling up the main character Zack. It all felt very random.
Having not played Final Fantasy VII, I expected to not perfectly understand the story, but the plot really didn't make much sense. I have a rough idea what it was all about, but I read a review stating the end would have me 'tearing up.' I was expecting an amazing ending and I just thought, "meh, it was decent." It actually was fairly childish - like a 7th grader wrote the script.
Overall, the experience was luke-warm at best. It was an OK game. All the reviewers giving this game such high scores must be remembering the good old days playing Final Fantasy VII.
