NEEDS MASSIVE PATCHING OR AN X360 PORT!
It has evrything to be one of the best FPS games ever, great story, great narrative, scary moments, interesting slow paced gameplay, and a really superb sound.
The story is set in the early 8'0s in the North Pole, 13 years before a soviet nuclear ice breaker got stranded and the negligence of capitain made the problem even bigger, your character is a guy sent to investigate the problem, then you discover that some that you are not alone in the ship the surviving members of the crew became agressive mutants, but you also have the ability to correct the actions of the past that caused the tragedy one by one in order to save the ship from its tragic ending.
The game is full of great scary moments, some of them comparable ot the best Silent Hill has to offer, while exploring the ship you'll find notes written by members of the crew but also you'll find notes written by an unknown person telling an old legend wich is a mtaphor of what actually happened in the ship.
As i said the game has it all to be among the best, sadly it is seriously flawed technically, first of all it is a system killer, no matter how great is your rig, you'll hardly get a good frame rate, that´s because the game consumes a lot of system resources but is not desgined to taka advantage of multi core CPUs, it only uses one core, if you want to improve performance you'll have to buy another GPU, one for the rendering and another for advanced Physx, and even all of that won't make sure that the game will have a good performance.
Patches have been released to improve performance but you won't gain any significant improvements on the contrary, they add Advanced physx wich makes the game a lot heavier than it was.
Finding a teaked CFG file is hard cause the game is not very customizable worst of all the developer and the publishers don't seem to show any interest in releasing a the necesary patches.
How is it possbile that a game with such technical flaws and massive system reqs is released without the proper support?
This game had it all to be GOTY material, but needs massive patching or a console port, I'm sure this game will feel right at home on console territory where the publisher would make sure it meets the standards required to be released.
