One of my favorite games of all time. A true landmark title for the NES.

SNK got it right when they developed this action/adventure/RPG. Everything about this game is great. The visuals are impressive. Graphically, this game looks great given the humble engine it is intended for. Color is used well and the world comes to life through the vivid and well-rendered environments. The main character and the numerous people he encounters in the game have a unique look that is surprisingly well done. You can tell the difference between young and old, men and women, etc. The baddies look great too; in addition to looking great, there's quite an awesome variety of them. Similar to Final Fantasy, as you progress through the game you'll start to encounter mechanical baddies, all of which look great in the game. Character animation for charging up your sword is a nice touch. The sound is good. Admittedly, some of the BGM that plays in a few of the dungeons throughout the game is very catchy, not to mention just a little bit eerie, quite appropriately so. Crystalis' gameplay mechanics are simple and easy to master. The controls are straightforward. Crystalis' story is interesting and engaging enough to make you want to play through it to its completion. Lastly, this game exhibits a significant replay value. The quest is long and challenging but never too long or too challenging. If you even encounter the opportunity to play this game, do so. If you like games like Dark Cloud or the Legend of Zelda, you'll thoroughly enjoy this Classic NES title.
