Ascend the Cursed Mountain and you'll find it's not that bad of a climb.

Cursed Mountain is a unique game. In fact, you probably don't even know about it. It's kind of like Deadly Creatures in a way...A good game that no one really knows about, but probably makes for one of the better 3rd party titles on the Wii. Developer Deep Silver really made quite a game here and I still can't believe at how good it is. You play as Eric Simmons, an experienced climber who goes searching for his brother Frank who disappeared climbing the mountain. I don't want to give to much away, but as you climb further the story gets deeper and darker as Frank climbs, fighting ghost spirits, and questioning his own sanity. That's right this game is a horror game, but you could have guessed that from the title. So let's talk about it. First the story as I mentioned is great. Deep Silver really went out of their way with a spooky and chilling tale. You don't see too many games like these anymore. Resident Evil became action oriented and most horror games are blood soaked. Games like this however remind me of Fatal Frame or Silent Hill where the atmosphere is quiet and the character's minds are questionable. Next is the adventure itself which is sadly quite short. It took me about 10 hours to beat this game...tack on another couple if you want to get 100% by collecting all the hidden items such as journals and memos. There really isn't any replay factor which is a damn shame because this game is quite good. Another thing is the game play you really have to be an old school horror fan to like this. Often times you'll be backtracking to solve puzzles and fetch questing. Now it never borders on Resident Evil or Silent Hill tedium where you have to go all the way around the mansion or town to get an item, go back and use the item, but still backtracking is never fun. Another thing is the controls most people have problems with the controls, but really you just have to figure them out. Now this is most likely the reason why they don't like the controls because it's never fully explained how to perform specific motions. You may be trying to exorcise a ghost frantically waving the Wii remote up and down when really you just had to swing it forward. The graphics are actually pretty good but, there are a few occasional rough spots. The music and sound are downright spooky and you'll even jump out of your seat once or twice while playing. In all I'd buy this game. It's cheap too. If you haven't experienced the climb I would pick this up.
