A decent racing game that's a blast to play. A must-play for Saturn owners.

Cyber Speedway was obscure even when it had just come out, it seems. I must've introduced this baby to a bunch of people and the response was not suprising: this game is fun. The controls took you a minute to learn, the courses got familiar after a lap or two and you were ready to look for shortcuts, the graphics were pretty decent, and the soundtrack by the Bygone Dogs kicked ass, really pumped you up to race. The style was like most things on the Saturn - futuristic. Not so much cyberpunkish as Virtua steampunk.

Bumping dudes off the road, speeding up to reach the flag, all the things you'd want in a racing game were included without all the fine tuning of alternators and whatnot. For those interested, there was a story mode. I don't remember it much as I haven't been able to play this game for a long time, but I can't forget the rush of flying at incredibly high speeds over a lake, bashing into the car next to me just for the hell of it. Let me tell ya, nothing beats slamming a car into a lava pit at speeds of 300+.

The only things I feel it's lacking are more cars and more tracks. After a while, you might get sick of the same old, but the fun replay value outweighs the potential for desiring more content. If you can find this game and you've got a working Saturn, take this baby for a test-drive. Choose your favorite cybersled-like car, favorite track, and peel out.
