Best version of Daikatana… you heard me right

User Rating: 7 | Daikatana GBC
The gameboy counterpart of Daikatana is totally different from the PC and N64 version. Using an aerial view looking down onto the character like the pokemon games and moving around, solving puzzles and talking to other characters in the game, this game is the simplest game in its form. The good news is that it's execution to the game is amazing and fits well to the gameplay and story.

The graphics animation is fluent and they look great. Every frame of animation on objects and characters was taken care off and they really represent the games feel.

The story of the game is still intact… with a few modifications in a few areas. Hiro is told that he must save Mikiko and revive the Daikatana sword, where the meets Superfly and all 3 travel though time trying to stop Kage altering the past.

Together, you roam around collecting weapons and key items and defeating monsters, huge bosses and solving puzzles, very fitting for a Gameboy Color game.

Some bosses are easy, as you simply run and slash and take hits at the same time, if you're lucky, you will easily succeed and defeat the bosses earliar in the game.

The puzzles are well put together and some the weapons from the PC version of the game are in the game. The best part? The game has an instant save feature… something the PC seemed to miss out on.

The only thing that is poor about the game is the monotone music… it will drive you mad and there with no turn music off ability on the game, that just sucks. Hopefully the volume dial on the Gameboy would help.

The game is so short… one day though the game and you'll complete it. It took me 2 and a half hours to complete one run. The replay value comes into completing the game and earning an A rank… if you want to seat though it.
