Don't use the PC version to judge this!

I was surprised when I first got to play this game. Yes, it's been a while since the game's release, I know. Anyways, this game pretty much takes the story from the original PC version and just uses better game play elements. Very fun to play actually, and well worth finding. In fact, Romero actually hosts a free and legal download for this game if you want to try it out.

This version of Daikatana allows you to be slightly more immersed into the storyline than it's 3D counterparts. The dialog can be a slightly cheesy, and the names a little odd, but every game has it's odd moments. Admit it!

The game takes you back in time through 4 different areas, which have their own somewhat different character/enemy designs, and you can find different weapons there. Some of the weapons you find will have unlimited ammo, others won't. There is sometimes not much of a noticeable difference about the damage inflicted by each, but the game at least gives a different purpose to each weapon at times, giving each weapon some use other than just to kill with.

The graphics aren't bad for GBC at all really, and the sound and music aren't that bad either. It's probably one of the few GBC games I'm actually able to stand playing on a PC really. The graphics for the environments are nicely placed, and you usually know what the place is supposed to be (sewer, ruins, temple, modern building, etc).

You can pick up on the game play right away, and the game usually doesn't get that boring with long dialog or tutorial texts.

Overall, this game is worth a try. I find it a lot more fun to play than the PC version. =)
