Dance Dance Revolution Super Nova is a step up from the franchise.
You should know what edit, training, and workout mode is by now. Edit mode is basically like training mode, but you can take your time with utilizing the arrows to get a better grasp on some of those challenging songs. Free play mode is where you play against a friend or a family member. However, there is one mode that either doesn't work that well, or it takes a long time to set up is online mode. I know that Play station 2 games that have online mode are crappy because Sony has axed away most of those games. Therefore, you won't be able to play online with others across the country which is disappointing. Advanced mode is where you try to challenge your skills like not breaking any combos or using some endurance.
Graphics - The graphics for the most part are very colorful, textured, bright, and smooth. They may not look very realistic, but the character animations are well done. There are no slowdowns or any glitches. They still haven't improved much from the past DDR games for the Play station 2.
Sound - There are a lot of tracks to select from. Some of the tracks are old school like David Bowie, the Buggles, Fall Out Boy, Cindi Lauper, and a few others. The rest of the tracks are Japanese and other foreign language songs. There are some occasional hip-hip songs like Flow. The sound effects are also catchy and spot on. Overall, the music is well varied.
Game play - The controls work well, and they are accurate and responsive. The difficulty levels go from beginner, basic, difficult, expert, and some songs have challenge mode.
Lasting appeal - Although the online mode doesn't work anymore, there is still some fun to be had. The extra modes give DDR Super Nova more of a variety and challenge. It would of been better if it went up to four players instead of two.
The good - a variety of different modes and challenges, controls work well, the music is well varied
The bad - the online mode doesn't work anymore, limited multiplayer modes (only goes up to two players)
