DANTE'S INFERNO - It didn't take long to figure out why there was a wide range of high and low reviews. The answer here.
Enter Dante's Inferno. Here's a game that plays very similar to God of War...a game that is exclusive to the Playstation systems. Us Xbox 360 owners don't get to play GOW.....which no doubt, is an excellent piece of gaming work. But thanks to Visceral Games....long suffering 360 owners now have a little of hack and slash heaven of our own (or should I say Hell?). And Visceral has based their game on a renouned piece of literary history, a story which makes a perfect script for an outlandish, shocking, powerful and very mature-structured video game.
Now....there is an equal number of game site reviewers that awarded Dante's Inferno with a score of 80 or better. A few over 90. This is where I am with it. This is an absolutely beautiful game, with top notch audio, multiple cut-scene techniques, endless upgrades and collectibles. The gameplay is deliciously gory with just the right amount of puzzle solving and platforming thrown in.
I take specific offense to Gamespot's review. As the reviewer indicates that the last third of the game is "lousy". I actually loved the way it played out during the last levels...as it was time for more brutal hack and slash fighting to be ldone, and less of the slower paced exploring. Go ahead.....lock me in an arena with several of Hell's bad guys, that's just the challenge I bought the game for in the first place.
Guys....I'm telling you...what is wrong with people. I don't understand why people need for each game they play to be a Pulitzer Prize winning piece of art. Not only that, but they expect games to be 30 hours long. For me, I like to play the game and beat it before I grow totally tired of it. And...I game for me. Not some dude I do not know who challenges me to an on-line slash fest. I like it when it's me against the devil.....and Dante's Inferno is an excellent game, full of eye candy and exciting thrills.
PS3 = Kratos
360 = Dante
I see nothing wrong with that.
