A dark, immersive, highly enjoyable and underrated action game!
Presentation:-
The way hell is realised in this game is absolutely stunning. Each level has its very own feel to it based around the sin which makes you feel as if you are actually plunging into doom. The graphics are excellent and the sounds horifically good from the howls of those trapped in heresy to the maniacal laughter of one shade trapped in greed. Despite this, the camera angles can often become fustrating and constrictive, as there are offroads to explore for extra items that often cannot be seen because of the camera angle.
Gameplay:-
For those who constantly go on about the game being a copy of God of War, yes it is very similar but how many other game genres have similar games in it??!!?!?! Also, why not just buy and thoroughly enjoy both? The conrols are tighter than a nun's crack leading to fast, fluid and rewarding gameplay that keeps you on your toes. There are two weapons, the scythe and the holy cross for hand to hand and range respectively and their abilities can be enhanced by either punishing or absolving shades which again adds more depth to the gameplay. The puzzles are pretty crap, i'll admit; the one in gluttony felt like a complete waste of time and was annoying as it also meant the cutting short of an initially very fun level. This leads to my third gripe that the game is seriously short. There is an element of replayability with costumes, relics and other things to collect but overall the game took me about a day and a jhalf to complete, although a very gun period of time. I would have liked each of the levels to be around the same length as greed as ones like gluttony are horribly short.
Overall, I very much enjoyed this game as it not only provided me with a break from my usual Fifa and COD addiction but with the wonderful environments, gorey and fun gameplay and array of evil enemies to slaughter, Dante's Inferno is an action game much closer to the dizzy heights of God of War than most people expect and believe. BUY IT!!!!
