Zelda for the PS2
You play as a boy named Toan. Now, before you start the game, you have the option of naming him whatever you want. You can name him after you, your cat, your dad, mom, uncle, whatever. While he was enjoying himself in a festival in his village, a fat pink monster called the Dark Genie was summoned back up. He destroys the entire village and you and the mayor are the only survivors. When you go talk to the mayor he instructs you to go into the dungeon to see if you can find anything. On your way there, you find an old man. He tells you that when the attack happened, he quickly put everyone in little balls called Atlas. Your goal is to go inside that dungeon and explore every single area and find all the Atlas you can. Then you need to find a dungeon key to go to the next area. When you want to take a break, you can rebuild the town the way you want to build it. When you are finished with the dungeon, you must fight a boss. After you defeat that boss, you can go to the next town and so on. You keep rebuilding towns until you face the Dark Genie and stop him.
Like I mentioned before, this game is like Zelda because of the battle system. You basically lock onto a target and press a button to attack. Of course you have to watch out for your health to heal yourself. But different monsters have different ways of defeating them so don't rely on using the same tactic over and over again.
Along the way, you'll meet different characters. They will join you but they will not fight alongside you. If you have very low health and nothing to heal with, you can easily switch to a different character to save yourself. When you die, you need a certain item to use a different character or otherwise you are sent back to town with half your money.
Now some levels have some tricks up their sleeves. For example. Some levels require that you can only use one character and you may not switch to another character. And you usually don't get to pick that character. They pick it for you.
When you collect Atlas, you have the option of going back to town and rebuilding. That uses a new feature called GEORAMA which you can rebuild the town. When you meet the requirements of one persons house, they will give you a gift.
You don't have levels in this game but you can level up your weapons. When you start the game, you have a small dagger. But progress through the game and you will obtain several other weapons as well for you and your party members. The old guy I mentioned earlier gave you the dagger and he cast a spell on it so it would never break. But all the other weapons will. When you equip a new weapon, use it with caution. Always check your weapons HP or WHP. If it goes down to zero, it will break and you will never get it back unless you find it again. When you have a weapon, every strike you make towards an enemy will increase your weapons level up gauge. When you reach a certain point in the gauge, you will get a little notification that you may level it up. When you reach the +5 level of your weapon, you can choose to upgrade it into a little ball. You can put that ball in all of your other weapons to increase that weapons attacks and more. And you can do this with all of your weapons!
The graphics are good but they sometimes make you think that it was all slopped together at the last minute.
Overall the game is excellent in every aspect. This is a game that you should buy and it will be a game that you can enjoy over and over again.
