A Classic
The story was amazing, following a young boy through his incredible adventure against a powerful foe who destroyed the entire world. Through the course of his adventure, Toan rebuilds his world and meets an amazing cast of characters.
Your part consists of six people: Toan, who's your PC. He uses swords and daggers and is a well-balanced character. I can use Toan to defeat any enemy I encounter in a dungeon. Toan's special skill is the ability to use the atlamillia on his glove to unlock atla and use the parts to rebuild the world. The second is Xiao, a cute cat-girl who uses slingshots. Xiao's special skill is jumping small gaps. She's useful as a long-range character until you get Ruby. The third character is Goro. His father was a great hunter. His weapons are hammers and axes and his special skill is opening doors that have floor switches. The fourth character is Ruby. She's a genie fresh out of the lamp whom Toan frees. She uses magical rings and is arguably the best long-range character. Her special skill is opening doors and lowering bridges controlled by gem switches. The fifth character is Ungunga, the greatest warrior in his tribe. He uses spears and polearms, and he disperses smoke and allows you to pass through. The final character is Osmond. He's a moon person who uses a variety of guns. His special skill is flying over large gaps.
There are a few elements of this game that can be annoying. The bosses for each floor often require you to use your newly acquired character, who often times aren't ready for such difficult battles in terms of health and thirst meters...and most importantly, weapons. However, it's usually not difficult to obtain a fairly good weapon for the new guys fairly soon after you get them.
The game isn't long enough for you to develop all of your characters, so it's best to only choose two and work on them: one long-range and one short-range. I always use Toan and Ruby exclusively.
There are some floors in dungeons called limited zones, which limit something you can do. Some floors require you to use a certain character, and they're usually not strong enough. I always use bombs to get through these floors.
Other than a few drawbacks, the game is great. It's really a classic. In terms of recent games, the graphics aren't the greatest, but they're stil impressive.
Once you beat the game, there's an extra dungeon that can be unlocked called the Demon Shaft. This dungeon has 100 floors, and is the only way to get Toan's ultimate weapon, Chronicle 2. I haven't beaten the Demon Shaft yet myself.
