A good basic rpg game that puts in a solid performance.
The storyline isn't very fluid, but the over all concept is pretty sound. With out giving away too much, the story revolves around a dictator, his evil jinn, and their destruction of the villages of the game's world. The graphics are good, but they don't really take advantage of the consoles abilities. I will say however, that they are better than some of the other PS2 games to follow. The game-play and controls are easy to grasp and are quite fun to execute. You fight your way through maze like levels in order to accomplish your missions. The variety of foes to fight is pretty broad and the FF inspired battle system is easy to grasp. The only major difference in the fight sequences is the ability to move around during the action. You can alter your weapons and accessories by gaining certain attributes of some of your foes. You will also find pieces of the destroyed villages by defeating some of the monsters you encounter and then you can rebuild them. This is a nifty way to take a break from battle. You can talk to the villagers and listen to their requests on how they would like the new village to look which will help to gain a better satisfaction rating of your construction. By talking to the villagers, you will find new companions to accompany you in your quest. Once you have some new companions, you will be able to send them into the mazes' levels to fight for you and this way you can take advantage of their different skills and weaponry.
All in all, I think that this is a very fun game and would recommend it to anybody who wants a basic rpg type experience. Happy building!
