Good idea. Compelling story. Poorly put together.

Upon receiving my copy of Dark Sector I was quite intrigued seeing that I had heard a lot about it from friends. I couldn't wait to get going...

The game starts off with a full fledged action packed ride. You even get to battle a chopper early on. How cool is that? Then for some or another reason the pace just flatlines. The gameplay becomes tedious, seeing that you need to light up your glaive with either fire or electricity every now and then and there are just too many valves to be turned. Upon entering some areas it is all too obvious that a battle is going to ensue... Making the game very predictable and average.

The story line packs a solid punch. A gripping story and once again a viral outbreak. Although this has been done they managed to keep it fresh in Dark Sector. So the story to me is spot on target. Moving on to AI... The AI was not really anything new. Sure, the soldiers do dodge grenades and chuck them over to you, and in some cases I actually thought that I wasd been pinned down or flanked. So it did score some points. There are some mech units to fight and then the infected hordes who spawn over and over again making it quite tedious. Shooting infected spade wielding monster is only fun for so long...

The huge creature was a welcome addition as I enjoyesd feeling like I was fighting something worth fighting. I noticed throughout the game that when the monster appeared the enemie soldiers seemed to stand in a fixed position and not even attempt to kill me... This was a bit unwanted...

As for the weapons... Not too much of a diverse choice is there? I just stuck with the pistol and A.K combo... The rpg was okay but was only used to actually kill the mechs... Now onto the graphics. WOW! The graphics really did hit the spot. I was really impressed by the level of detail of both the characters and the environmental effects. Very good show lads.

All in all not too bad of a game. I will reccomend this to people who are fans of a good storyline and some mindless creature killing. Not really what I had hoped for but it still did aid me in wasting another few hours of my life away.

Let's hope for a sequel.
