Soo dang addicting!

Alright well I'm just going to get right to it and say straight up that this game is a blast. I've never been so frustrated in my entire life playing games as when I play Dark Souls, and yet I find myself completely addicted to it. In terms of difficulty, I have to say it's perfect. You're actually required to think about how to most effectively use your character and play style to your advantage. And thankfully there is finally some real repercussions for dying, in the form of potentially losing vital souls. One thing that honestly drives me nuts is when I die and it ultimately has no effect on me other than I have to reload.

Anyways, moving on to graphics. This is honestly the low point of the game. The game doesn't look bad, doesn't look great, but doesn't look bad. The graphics really are just average. There's some instances where I find myself looking at the game and I'm somewhat blown away, and yet there's others where I'm sitting there wondering what the heck happened. Also there is some pretty bad lag in one of the games areas, which is frustrating and ultimately one of the reasons I can't give the game a 10/10.

Alright, now for gameplay. The controls feel nice and tight, yet at times lack the responsiveness this game requires. Aside from that, gameplay is exhilarating. Just about any enemy has the potential to kill you if you're reckless, so strategy plays a big part in success. Area designs are varied and hit the right note. And boss battles are an absolute blast and can really get the adrenaline going.

In conclusion, this game has turned me from a die hard Elder Scrolls fan into a hopeless Souls fan. You could argue that the score should be lower given the graphical hiccups and sometimes unresponsive controls, but the game is so much fun that it ultimately doesn't matter. If you haven't tried this game yet, you absolutely must because it is without a doubt, one of the best RPGs of this generation.
