My aging brain is just not cut out for these games anymore.

Back when all we had were the "Quest" games they made sense and it was fun to figure out what to do next. But when these newer games came along there seems to be no logic as to your next move. I began "Darkness Within" determined to complete the game without using any walkthroughs. There are only 5 "days" to the game but I couldn't complete even the first one. Back and forth to the different locations trying to find something to advance the game. Reading one book or letter after another trying to underline page after page was just too frustrating. After over 10 hours of getting nowhere I once again just gave up and printed out the walkthrough. Read this book, underline this word, go back to this place, combine these clues. OMG! I would have NEVER figured this out on my own. Even with the walkthrough (which was good) it took me 7 hours to complete this game only to find the journey confusing and the end boring. It just wasn't any fun. By the way, I'm 65 years old and have been playing games since 1980 so I'm not a novice....maybe just getting too old.
