Has little to offer and is a mockery of the PSP's capabilities.
User Rating: 4.1 | Vampire Chronicle: The Chaos Tower PSP
Darkstalkers Chronicle is fun...for the first 30 to 60 minutes. Whoever rated this game good obviously just played once, said "This is fun," then reviewed/rated it. After about 15 fights you'll realize all the fights are the same. You don't unlock characters or new costumes, instead you just unlock a poorly made cutscene or maybe a drawing. There is no "best character" since you start with all of them, and every character seems to move at teh same speed, but some have more damaging attacks. So you may as well just use the 3 or 4 only good characters the whole game, who probably have the same strength/speed as eachother. The ending movie in arcade mode (which is 5 fights long) is the same for all but one character. Tower Mode is long and time-wasting. There is no plot to it but it's as close to story mode as this game has. You basically go up a giant tournament ladder up a tower. When you lose and you haven't saved in a long time, say hello to an hour of boring battles. When one of your 3 fighters dies, he's dead for good. This might be good for games like Tactics Ogre or Fire Emblem, but, sorry Capcom, dumb for a fighting game. Although some characters look cool, all in all this is a terrible game of 2d graphics, bland fighting, and little, if any, plot.
