If you are an old school Privateer this game is in the same vein. Never tried this type of game before? Tread lightly.

Opinion - I've played PC space simulator games in my past and looked forward to the release of this game. However, I waited until the price was reduced since it was the type of game that you should not have to pay close to full price for. Once I dove into the game it was just as the games I used to play on PC.

Positives -
- It's basically the same advancement structure in most space simulation games. Perform tasks, obtain and complete missions within and outside the story to advance the growth of you ship.
- Controls layout worked well with the 360 controller and was very responsive. - Planet scenery graphics were awesome. The backdrop was beautiful.
- The ability to save the game at any point.

Negatives -
- Frame rate suffered when a lot of action heated up.
- Battle graphics and explosions were lame.
- Opponent A.I. seemed to have an IQ lower than Kamikaze Pilots.
- In certain solar systems the backdrop is the same color of the laser reticule leaving you guessing where to shoot.
- The acting is substandard (but this was something I expected so the character interactions ended being more comical than disappointing).
- Character graphics was horrible. The main character looked as though he has a permanent ring around the collar on his neck.
- At times the sound froze and the only way to get rid of it was to save the game and start it again.
- There are some glitches to content with. for example (SPOILER), the final mission has you flying through several canals in a ship. At one point I got thrown out of the canal into some quasi-alternate dimension where I was flying outside the canals while the canals were just outside of the ship. At first I though it was some kind of mind-bending trick the game introduced, which would have been cool, until I realize I was flying outside the scope of the game and had to restart the mission from a previous save. SAVE OFTEN!!!!!
- Random pirate attacks became annoying. The only was to avoid this was to max out your reputation as a pirate (rob freight ships). Once maxed random pirate attacks will cease.

Overall - This is a good game (if this genre is your cup of tea) it has some quirks and glitches but overall a solid game. I game it a C, which is a 7.0 in my books. It is fun and does what it sets out to do.

Warning - If you haven't played this type of game before you may find it tedious, too long, and very repetitious. This is the nature of the genre.
