If you like Diablo, you'll like Darkstone. But it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. The gameplay, characters, NPD's, levels, etc... all are just like Diablo's. Even the music in certain points sounds exactly like Diablo's. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as long as you're not looking for a unique gaming experience. The one thing I really didn't care for too much was the time it takes to level up. At the beginning of the game, you're constantly leveling up, it seems like you level every couple of enemies. But eventually, it starts taking forever. The amount of experience you get per enemy doesn't increase nearly as much as the amount of experience you need to level, so once you get about a quarter or so through the game, it really starts slowing down and getting repetitive. You have to go through the same dungeons a few times to get enough experience to move to the next one. I found myself dying constantly, in which case i'd then have to march back from town to wherever I died.
That's okay if you're looking for a time waster. But seeing as this is an old game, I just wanted to play it through without too much repetition. If i'm going to devote this much time to a game, I'll do it with a newer game. But if you're a fan of this type of game, you can't go wrong. The graphics, gameplay, sound, and pretty much everything else is decent.
