WHAT DARKWATCH IS....AND IS NOT. It all depends on your gameplaying experience and your gamplaying expectations.
A First-Person-Shooter game that sticks by a tried and true formula. Some people describe this sort of game as a "corridor crawler". Darkwatch is that, but it has enough extra neat stuff to allow it to rise above average status. If you like fantastic gun and explosion sound, this game has that. It is probably the best feature of the game. The environment is dank and gray alot of the time, but that is for two reasons....1. it is supposed to be an foggy, erie atmosphere and 2. the vampire abilities you have gained dissapear in bright daylight. So with that said, the graphics in the game fit the games idea. Gameplay is OK and some of the large skirmishes can get helter-skelter, which is fun. For the most part, it is a FPS that has the player doing just that....shooting a bunch at every turn of the corner.
WHAT DARKWATCH IS NOT:
Diverse enough to keep you interested for very long. The enemies are repetitive and are only an average challenge. The weapons are very good, but the problem here is that you're in the old west era, where sub-machine guns and lazer particle weapons have not been born yet and you can only do so much with rifles and pistols. There is one weapon...the cross-bow rifle...that is great to shoot. The Boss battles...well, they are different and really don't fit in with the rest of the game, as you should breeze through the campaign, only to run into a Boss that you will fight (and die) against forever. Didn't make much sense to me.
It's a fun game with great sound, decent looks, some entertaining melee punches and gooey, gory enemies. But it was only fun once.
