With the Venice expansion there is the ability to buy a key to the city, which transfers control from the enemy to you. Just watch out because they too try to buy your cities. Venice adds a bunch of new ability for ships and harbors. This is an all around great expansion. The best part being Henchmen. You set them up in enemy cities and they carry out devious plans. Some are arsonists, others incite revolutions and some poison wells to spread the plague. i had an enemy henchmen bring a belly dancer to my oriental settlement and made me lose $6,700 worth of tax money. I have used them in oriental islands to establish false prophets. The expansion adds not only items and henchmen, but also new scenarios. There is a scenario where you play as an honorary corsair. No need to build houses ( actually you cant settle anywhere). Raid harbors and ships and sell the goods to Hassan ben Sahid in exchange for more ships. It is rather entertaining and adds a new, slightly more challenging element to the game.
