Daxter on the psp is gorgeous, fun, and hilarious. What more could you ask for from a game? The analog nub works well when controlling Daxter, as well as the various vehicles that he drives over the course of the adventure. Jumping and combat are easy to get used to, as is the camera. The game does a good job of easing players into the world of Daxter. The controls are simple at first, but get much more deep as you unlock new combos. Combos are unlocked by beating different "dream sequences," which are basically Daxter-fied movie parodies such as the Martix. Gameplay in these sequences is simplified to a contextual button pressing minigame, but they are fun and pretty funny. It's always fun to see which popular movie roll Daxter drops himself into next. The graphics are absolutely excellent in Daxter. There wasn't a moment in the game where I would have thought that I was playing a psp game had I not been holding the psp in my hands. These are PS2 calibur graphics all the way through. The animations for each character are fantastic as well. The sound goes a long way towards making this game great. The music isn't the most memorable I've heard in a platformer, but the voiceovers are. Daxter is the funniest game character I've ever seen...maybe with the exception of the rabbids in Rayman. (Funniest line for those who have played through this part so far: "Those aren't bugs!" Well...it's funny in context.) Other characters are equally well voiced, but Daxter really steals the show here. Overall, Daxter is probably the best PSP game out. Fun, hilarious, and it has breathtaking graphics.
