The most natural transition from console to portable since Mario Kart. A gem!

If you loved any of the Jak games, Jak II and Jak 3 especially, you are in for a real treat - the next great game in the series, and possibly its best.

The first thing you'll notice in Daxter is that it is absolutely beautiful. The characters, the environments, the effects, the animation, and I can't forget the expressions of the characters in the cutscenes...it's all just done so well. The PSP is a great looking system to begin with, but that screen really shines the brightest with Daxter running around with his flyswatter.

The next thing you'll notice is when the game prompts you to move the analog stick. Now, I recently played GTA:LC on the PSP, and I cannot express to you the difference in the controls and camera. Moving Daxter throughout the game, even in the variety of minigames you expect from the series, feels so absolutely responsive, and the camera is impeccable. The attacks and collisions too are right on the money.

The gameplay itself is very reminiscent of its predecessors (or successors if you're following the story's timeline.) The GTA, mission-style fun is still around (a good thing) as is good 'ol Haven City, since the game starts off just before Jak II. The story-propelling missions are similar to before, with a variety of things to collect and a main task to push the game forward. The action here is platforming at its best, pure and simple.

The humor and storytelling is just as good as the rest of the series, and it's nice to see Daxter hasn't lost his, well, style. The sound and voice-acting is spot on. I'm trying to think of something this game doesn't have or do well, but I'm drawing a blank. There's just so much to do, so many extras, so much replay value - not to mention the multiplayer! - and the core game is so ridiculously polished.

PSP gamers abound are about to become spoiled. How will we ever go back to the rest of our library?
