A platformer that just manages to get it right
Gameplay:
The gameplay is surprisingly good. Actually, it's great. Beautiful attack system and an excellent collision detection makes it all the better to play.
Sound & Audio performance:
Sound is of high quality and the audio is fantastic. You can hear even your own footsteps quite clearly! (something most platformers execute poorly)
Graphics:
Beautiful. Fantastic. Amazing. What other words could be used to described it?
Value:
Not a very long game, it makes up for it by getting you to collect Precursor Orbs to unlock "goodies" and better dream sequences (which you can keep doing and doing again until you get a gold medal, which also unlocks something). It also captures the feeling of going back to another level to collect the items there fantastically.
In the end, Daxter is a fantastic game that shows what the PSP is capable of doing, and also proves that sometimes platformers are one of the best types of games out there.
