Daxter is a classic plattformer which turns out to be a full worthy addition to the great Jak & Daxter series.

The plattform genre is currently quite small. I cherished the time when Banjo Kazooie and Rayman 2 loaded in and out of my N64 back in 1999. Those where fantastic plattform games, but the genre was missing on the Gamecube, but very apparent on the PS2 with series like Ratchet & Clank, Sly and Jak & Daxter. Daxter is the latest and maybe last addition to the Jak series and turns out to be one of its finest.

The PSP does an incredible job playing Daxter. Ready at Dawn has created the best looking PSP game to date. Especially the cut-scenes look awesome with the characters being just as cool as in the previous games. The animations are also great and moving Daxter around becomes very satisfying because of that. The Jak & Daxter games has always had great sound with its music and character voices. The music sounds almost exactly like before, though that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. The character voices has always been great in Jak's adventures because of how it brought everything to life. Every character feels real and has a unike personality.

Daxter follows in Jak & Daxter's footsteps and doesn't feature much of the modernising aspects of Jak 2 and 3. It's a classic plattform game and sets itself apart from competitors because of that. The game plays out in the futuristic Haven City that we first saw in Jak 2. This game is set in the timeperiod between when Jak gets imprisoned and when he's rescued. So you won't see much of Jak in this game, and after a while you kinda miss him. But Daxter fills his boots very well and does a great job as a main character. He's still fuzzy and funny and the game never drops short of good scenes and comments. The game is kinda short, but saticfying enough as a handheld game. I recommend every PSP owner to look it up, and for every plattform gamer to pick it up cause it's the best PSP game to date.
