Just SOOOOO annoying!
-Gameplay
Boring is all I got to say. The platforming is boring and the level desing is just uninspired. I can't belive that everyone calls Super Mario Sunshine's water pack a gimmick, but when Daxter does it it's the coup de friggin grace to all other handheld platformers. The combat is tedious and only usues one button. You press that one button the whole time and do the same moves. The enemies and bosses are incredibly dull, and lack any chalange whatsoever. Speaking of challenge, YOU CANT DIE IN DAXTER!!! Not only does this make the game incredibly easy, but makes you feel like the developers made no effort to fix the level desing. If your levels are so poor and makes platforming a chore, why don't you fix them instead of allowing the player to not to die untill FINALLY they are able to make that jump that was put there so carelessly. Did I mention the platforming is mediocre? Daxter only has a double jump and the addition of the hovering bug spray backpack. Meanwhile, a port of a 10 year old game (Super Mario 64 DS) gives you more moves and much more interesting enviornments. Plus, it puts the emphisis on platforming. Not hover around beating up enemies with boring combat and solving puzzles meant for people with down syndrome. The gameplay just sucks in my honest opinion.
-Graphics
Despite the obvious flaws in the gameplay, the game does have the best graphics out of any handheld game ever made. The enviornments are lush and detailed and that goes with the character models as well. You can actually see the fur on Daxter when in a conversation cutscene. The characters also have an impressive array of emotions in their faces when they talk and lip sync perfectly. The graphics really are a high point to this game.
-Sound
The sound, while crisp and clear, is not as great as the graphics. For one, the music is highly forgettable and sometimes out of place. Secondly, Daxter's voice is SO DAMNED ANNOYING!!! I can't stand Daxter. At some points I just turned off the system just because he KEPT TALKING. This game has some terrible writing which really isn't that surprising since the writing in the Jak games have been overall pretty average. I say average because the GOOD writing for all the other characters is brought down by the horriable writing for the character Daxter. So some good writing is overall brought down by such a bad character. Since Daxter's writing is so bad in the games where he is only a secondary character, I couldn't possibly begin to think just how bad it would be if he was the MAIN CHARACTER. Though the voice acting is good, I will give them that. Daxter is just too annoying so thats why the sound gets such a low score.

Do you really want to hear Daxter talk again? Do you really want to go through the mediocre platforming again? I think not. I guess you could go back to unlock crappy minigames with crappy multiplayer...I guess.
Daxter is just overrated trash when it comes right down to it. Don't but into the hype and save yourself $50 please. Thanks!
