From the same studio who bring us God Of War for the PSP, Daxter is a challenging and cheekily fun game.

If you're not sure whether this game lives up to its numerous positive reviews, just let me tell you that it's from the same developers who did God of War: Chains of Olympus. I don't really fancy platformers since I suck at reflexes, which bars me from appreciating the Mario and Sonic series as much as most old-school gamers do. Daxter is a 3D format of such jumping puzzle games and more. It also serves to train your hand-eye coordination by giving you a fun array of mini-games inspired by iconic blockbuster films such as The Matrix and Lord of the Rings. Trust me, those mini-games are fun to play and experience!

I like the fact that your projectile weapon serves as a transport boosting tool more than a weapon itself and you get to experiment with its curious ways of getting you to specific places unreachable by normal jumping means to collect treasure. Some of the level designs are ingeniously laid out like a giant playground where it gives you the flexibility to explore hidden areas early if you dare to venture with enough knowledge of your abilities.

Daxter is very well-animated and it's often fun to watch him carry out his wacky moves. The set design of most areas are also interesting with a consistent wacky feel but the almost empty streets actually makes the game a little lonely. Most NPCs come out from nowhere to talk to you and then disappear to nowhere too. Even your own sidekick is too tiny to even display onscreen. Music is played sparsely and is non-existent most times when you're out on the streets going to the next stage. Other than that, Daxter is a keeper if you're a fan of platformers.
