A Honest review from a Level 30 Villain and Level 25 Hero.
Graphically this is one of the best looking MMOs. I'm playing this on a PS3 and everything has a decent amount of detail to it, especially the Heros and Villains along with those you make. The Cities are done very well and have a true DC feel to this world. It never gets old using either Super Speed, Flying or Acrobatics to get through the city. The Super Powers and abilities are done very well and you can actually feel the power of a Hero or Villain in your hand.
Gameplay wise, this pretty much reminds me exactly like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but with the MMO twist of leveling up. This isn't a bad thing, because I feel its the perfect engine for a game of this caliber. Like in all MMO's though, expect a lot of the same thing Quest wise. You ether have to collect a certain amount of things then take it back, or kill a certain amount of people then collect this, then kill THESE amount of people ect. While it does get repetitive, nothing takes away the fact that your a Super Hero or Villain and the gameplay alone makes up for that.
The Music and voice overs are done well, Glad to see they have Hamill as The Joker, because no one else would have been able to do it right. The Raids, Duo, Dungeons are all very fun, even letting you play as people such as Batman, Joker, Nightwing ect..
The Pricing though......Is not cool. 15.99 a month. GRANTED. I expected that, because this is a MMO that is just starting out and they need the funds just in order to turn a profit, hopefully, the pricing goes down to WoWs standards.
One thing that REALLY Urks me, is the actual PVP system itself. A lot of servers are mainly PVP with a few PVE servers. While I dont mind this, For people just starting out, expect A LOT of Level 30s attacking a Level 9 while said Level 9 is TRYING to do a quest. This was very, very annoying and I am actually happy I have atleast one level 30 to deal with this horse crap. In my view, that just feels broken. You can go ahead and say Im just complaining, but C'mon. It gets annoying that some level 30s suck that bad in this game PVP wise that they just spawn kill at low level quest zones. And This is on A LOT of servers! Atleast WoW has their PVP system straighten out and you don't see level 80s going into level 10 areas and killing players non stop and instead force 80s to fight people closer to their level.
Aside from this minor issue that can obviously be fixed with a patch update and the very steep price per month. This is actually a great MMO and was able to successfully achieve what City of Heros and Champions Online tried to do.
