User Rating: 9.9 | DDRMAX2: Dance Dance Revolution 7th Mix PS2
DDR MAX2: Dance Dance Revolution 7th Mix is by far the best mix to date. It houses all but 4 of the 7th Mix premiere songs, and has a lot of new songs (unlike the import 6th Mix, which was a big disappointment on preview songs. Keep in mind than whenever you review a DDR game, comparing them to other mixes is vital...comparison is how you find out whether or not one of these games are worth buying, renting, or leaving alone. GamePlay: You can't deny that any DDR game is vastly different from any other game you'll find on the market. This mix is no exception. This game gets a 10. The game is geniusly designed to either give you an insanely hard playing experience, or let you have a lot of fun. And there is a large scale of difficulty among the songs, so anyone at any skill level can enjoy the game. Being able to dive into the game and fun at any moment: THAT's gameplay. Graphics: DDR games don't need great graphics to be great, but this baby houses some nice eye candy. The arrows, along with the entire interface, is crisp and clean. The songlist has a sexy kind of look, black and red. Just like with 6th Mix, the 60 FPS offer a better playing experience than the older games. The backgrounds were nicely cleaned up from the arcade version, so this has better graphics than the arcade. Very nice! Sound: A 10 goes to this game...why, you ask? Well, the average game you'll play these days have a pretty set style of music on them, based on the game of course. This game has music from many different genres, making it enjoyable for many types of people. All songs have a lot of base, so it sounds really awesome when you play with surround sound. ;) The menu selection aren't annoying, and the announcer along with the booing can be turned off. Oh yeah, and every track in this game is incredble! Value: I can never find any game that has more replay value than any DDR game let alone this power house. You can never be done with this game, not for a while. It takes a long time to unlock all the songs and goodies, and once you do that, then the game gets even better. Unlike other games where once you unlock every secret, cheat, etc. everything is done and you can move on, DDR MAX2 keeps the challenges there. The amount of mental challenge this game provides is beyond description, you have to try MaxX Unlimited on heavy to see what I mean. Literally endless replay value...do I have to say more? This is truly a great game. Any DDR fan reading this should be nodding their head in agreement. Anyone looking for a challenge, buy this. Anyone wanting to try something different, buy this. If you want a great workout and have fun, this is for you. The only thing I have to say is bad, is the 4 missing songs, but that's a small price to pay for all the great stuff this game has to offer. We DDR fans await the next game: The American DDR MAX2!
