Quite a good game.

User Rating: 8.6 | Dead or Alive Ultimate XBOX
Dead or Alive Ultimate, which is a remake of Dead or Alive 2 for Dreamcast and PS2, is quite an amazing game for the Xbox. It adds so many things that weren't in the previous versions of the games. The two most prominant things that were added were amazing graphics that even surpassed Dead or Alive 3, and also online play. Some other things were added also, like 167 total costumes instead of about 50 that were in the original Dead or Alive 2, and also a few extra modes. I'll start off with the graphics. All I can say is wow! I've never seen a console game with graphics this beautiful and well realized. The characters look almost as good, if not as good, as some of the current CG-Movies, like The Incredibles and Finding Nemo. Rarely, there will be collision detection problems, like a characters hair going through her shoulder, but all in all the graphics more then make up for this. The enviroments are very beautiful too, and it looks very lifelike. And of course since this is a Dead or Alive game, alot of detail went into the females, and they look better then any other video game girls. If there is one low point of Dead or Alive Ultimate, it would have to be the sound and music of the game. Alot of the music was just recycled from Dead or Alive 2, and it wasn't very good even back then. The music just kinds of gets stuck in the background. After a while, I didn't even hear the music since I was paying more attention to playing the game. The Japanese voice actors are quite good, though. I have to say I am disappointed that the American voices were taken out of this version, since they were present in both of the previous Dead or Alive 2 versions. I don't know why they took these voices out, but I don't see why. Now comes the most important part of any game: the gameplay. Dead or Alive Ultimate plays as good as almost any 3D fighter out there, except for maybe Virtua Fighter 4. The Y button is for punching, B button is for kicking, X button is for blocking, A button is for throwing, the white and black buttons are for combinations attacks, as well as the right analog stick. You can mix up alot of these attacks, and do many different moves. Most characters in the game have about 60-80 moves each, so you will find many moves that you will want to use. The main 4 modes of the game are Story Mode, Time Attack, Survival Mode, and Online Play. Story Mode lets you play through 7 battles with any of the 12 starting characters, and there are 2 or 3 cutscenes in their story mode. Its not too deep, but it is still entertaining. Time attack plays like a normal fighting games arcade mode. Just go through 8 enemies, and try to beat the game as fast as you can. Survival mode gives you one bar of life, and you have to keep on fighting enemies, only regaining a little bit of life after each fight. Finally, Online play is what you would think it is, you can play online against other people over Xbox Live. You will get the costumes for characters through playing Story Mode and Time Attack over and over again. If you want to get every costume in the game, you will have to beate Story mode and Time Attack 137 times! Overall, this is probably my favorite fighting game on the Xbox. It does alot of things right, and is just as blast to play.
