Dead Space 2 Severed takes place during the early events of Dead Space 2 in which you play Gabe Weller from Dead Space Extraction and now member of the Sprawl Security team in a desperate attempt to save his now wife Lexine Murdoch also from Extraction from the hordes of necromorphs and Sprawl Security soldiers. Though most of the levels are retracing the steps of Isaac Clark, there are a few unique areas with very intense necromorph battles. Severed starts you off with some variably enhancements to your weapons and armor but allows for the same purchasing system that is available to Isaac but throws a number of tough necromorphs as well as soldiers and air craft to thwart your attempt to save your wife. While the journey to Lexine is a challenge, it is relatively short but does allow for a great ending that leaves elements of this content to present themselves in the next installment of the Dead Space series. Dead Space Severed is a fun play through and a fast pace fight that was worth the admission price.
