Your mom hates it but we Dont.Check out my new review on Dead Space 2 the new game of the award winning Dead Space!
I feel that the story in Dead Space to is more well done than the original game. Were as I felt in the story in the first game started off very weak and get better as the game went on and by the end the story was amazing. I felt the story was fantastic the whole way through the second game.
The dialogue is mostly well written in Dead Space 2. There are the occassional corny lines here and there but nothing too bad.
One of the main improvements in the story sections for me over the first game in the story section is that Issac has a voice. Him having a voice makes you care much more about him than having him as a silent protagonist. The rest of the voice acting is also superbly done just as it was in the first game.
Overall I loved the story in Dead Space 2 and I think that it is a noticable improvement over the first game.
Graphics - The graphics in Dead Space 2 are beautiful. Just as they were in the original.
The raw power of the graphics are amazing they the raw power isn't as great as Crysis' but it's still pretty damn good.
The only way I could see anyone not liking the graphics in Dead Space 2 is if they don't like the art design. I personally love the art design. I think it's great the way everything looks futureistic and how the menu's are in 3D.
I truly think that the graphics of Dead Space 2 are some of the best on the current console's.
Gameplay - Dead Space 2's gameplay has stayed mostly similar to the first game but there has been some welcome change's.
You still fight the necromorphs using strategic dismemberment which is as fun as ever. Issac still use's stasis and kinesis.
Stasis has stayed mostly the same as the first game you still use it to slow down your enimies. The only difference is that it recharges which comes in very handy. This means that you don't have to stomp every crate you see for a stasis pack if you've ran out of stasis like you had to do in the first game.
Kinesis however has seen remarkable improvements. Now if you cut off a necromorphs arm you can grab it with stasis and send it flying right back at them and impale them on a wall. Not only is it an incredably satisfying way of taking down necromorphs, it saves alot of ammo.
Dead Space 2 also adds in a few new weapons that are fatastic additions to the gameplay. You still have weapons like the Plasma Cutter, Line Gun and Pulse Rifle. Dead Space 2 adds in the Detonator, Seeker Rifle and Javalin Gun. The detonator let's you place traps for any necromorphs coming your way. The javalin gun impales emimies with spears. However my favourite new weapon is the seeker rifle. It is very powerful and is overall just fun to use.
The biggest improvement to Dead Space to in my opinion is that the developers got rid of the backtracking. The backtracking was easily the worst part about the original game. Thank God they got rid of it. The game is very linear though because of this. I however see that as a good thing because it means that there isn't any backtracking.
One thing I can't get over how well done it is are the set pieces. Some of them are some of the best in gaming. Particularly the one in chapter 5. Please Naughty Dog take notes. The set pieces are that good.
However with all that I've said good abou the gameplay there is one flaw. It isn't to big of an issue it's just a bit annoying.
In the final chapters of the game in some rooms way too many enimies are thrown at you. Some rooms took me about twenty tries to do, it can get very fustrating. It just seemed like a cheap way out of extending the length of the game.
With only one negative point and all those positives you can tell really how damn good the gameplay was in Dead Space 2.
Enjoyment - I think it's pretty clear that I enjoyed Dead Space 2. With all those positives and lengthy single player campain I can safely say that this game is worth a buy.
The game took me nine and a half hours to beat and it has good replay value with the new game + mode.
Multiplayer - The games multiplayer was really fun (it still is).The online mode is like a left 4 dead sort of theme to it.You can play as the humans or the necromorphs(I prefer human). But the point is to go and finish the objective while the players who are the necromorphs are trying to stop you from doing so.But the online is like campagin.Very good graphics and good sound and animation.
Story - 9.5 - Interesting story, well voice acted and good dialogue.
Graphics - 10 - Beautiful graphics with a fantastic art design.
Gameplay - 9.5 - Everything that made the first game great + more. Only flaw is that gets hard in the final few chapters.
Enjoyment - 10 - One of the best games I've played in a long time.
Final Score - 9.5 - A strong contender for Game of the Year.
