*Watch out! this review contains spoilers*
Dead Space has accomplished what so many other horror games have failed to accomplish, and that is scare the **** out of you. No matter how tough you may think you are, this game WILL grab you by your nut sack, body-slam it and finally stomp on it. It will send chills down your spine believe me and that is what makes Dead Space so great. The environment is really well designed to make you feel uneasy: tight corridors, dark hallways, bloody markings everywhere, and a haunting silence that will perturb you. For example, at first everything may seem nice and quiet but as you take some steps ahead...you will know you are NOT alone (Vacuum sequences are a great example). This game is so well crafted with level design that it makes you feel like you're at the wrong place at the wrong time ALL THE TIME. No matter where you find yourself you will know you're not welcome there and that's pretty awesome for a game to be able to do that. On top of that there is the sick eery audio. Not only do the necromorphs look ridiculously horrifying and scary, but they have this creepy audio that will make all the hairs in your back point straight up to the sky, it's absolutely crazy, plus sounds and noises the damaged Ishimura makes will make you jump here and there. The voice acting from everyone was stupendous, I really like Hammond's better though, the face expressions and the acting seemed very real. Kendra was excellent as well. The gameplay is solid, you basically shoot your way through the ship's nightmares completing missions like fixing the ship (I know Gamespot pointed out that missions are repetitive, but I actually enjoyed them, although there is some backtracking but hey, you're on an abandoned ship and that's where the game takes place) you can also slow your enemies with Stasis which comes real handy in severe cases when you're handicapped. I hear a lot about how it does not have a 180 degree turn like in Resident Evil 4 but you know what? it does NOT need it, the control scheme that revolves around moving Isaac is real strong plus it adds tension to combat and you can also run and fire and reload at the same time which in my opinion is helpful and great. Dismemberment is fun, pretty clean how developers included this system in order to enhance your chances for survival, for example, you have to dismember a body so an Infector won't turn it into a Dark Slasher and such. It also gives a great sense of "revenge" as you're beating the brains out of necromorphs or there are times in the game where you may feel evil and stomp on some other "good corpses" lol but anyway. The story is good, Gamespot mentioned a "deeply engrossing story" but it wasn't THAT twisted to me but it was good I was envisioning something more twisted but trying to replace humankind with a new alien form is pretty messed up. In another aspect, I called Ms. Daniels being a traitor ever since Chapter 3 but you know its ok I guess.......not. The love story between Nicole and Mr. Isaac Clark was unnecessary in my opinion, I could have made the story that much better but I won't post it here, if you want to know it message me and I'll let you know. The whole Marker thing and its hallucinations was cool I didn't expect that one coming but again I could've made much better than having Nicole part of it but all in all Dead Space is an amazing game, really frightening...Oh yeah! graphics were real good specially in Zero-G rooms where everything looks cool "floaty" like blood squirts. Also when you step outside the ship, the view of the universe is amazing! kind of scary too lol with the meteorites and such, just phenomenal. So again, All in all Dead Space is an amazing game that you should NOT miss if you're looking for a good time and scare, it will not disappoint you in any way trust me I highly recommend this game. Well I hope you enjoyed my review, please track me or add me as a friend I'll greatly appreciate it and stay tuned for another review by Project_5! have a good one guys, later.
