If you like a scary in your face game Dead Space is for you!
(Good)-This game might give you an anxiety attack. You must survive on a spaceship against creatures that come out of nowhere. Every moment feels as though you are really fighting just to stay alive. It's fun to explore and decimate your foes while trying to find a way to call for help and get off the ship. The story is creepy and engaging. You can pull off neat tricks with your kinesis and stasis modules, and zero gravity is a cool experience. Your weapons are pretty cool, and can be upgraded to be even better.
(Bad)-Two things annoyed the heck out of me. 1) Limited supplies 2) Player movement. I was frustrated with the lack of ammo and health supplies. At times I was worried about how I was going to complete the game because I had exhausted nearly everything and the enemies kept coming (even on medium mode). The game needs some health stations, and ammo needs to come in greater quantities.
Another annoying aspect is player movement. I felt like my enemies were Speedy Gonzalez and I was stuck in quick sand. When the enemies were 5 to 10 feet away everything was fine, but up close fighting is difficult.
Sound:
Creepy! Fits the mood and setting perfectly. In game sounds make you think a creature is around every corner.
Graphics:
Creepy! Very nice to look at. However, being on the same ship for 20 hours of play...well there's not a lot of variety.
Value:
I completed the game in just under 20 hours, and I explored and took my time looking around. Unlockables are available after you beat the game, which makes you want to play the game again for an even deeper experience.
Conclusion:
If you like horror survival then this game delivers completely. One last thing...I hated that dang Regenerator Necromorph!!!!!
