Great game, very minor concerns.

Let me tell you something, I reached to a point where I believe that all FPS games, Survival-Horror games, insert a genre here would play the same, but they will differ in story. So I was not excited about picking dead space when it was released, and bought it 2 years after. But – God, I hate to admit this- I was wrong in dead space case.

You will play as Isaac Clarke, an engineer, part of a team who was sent to the USG Ishimura to investigate the distress signal, during the journey, Isaac will keep watching a video of his girlfriend Nicole, who happened to be part of the Ishimura crew.

The game presentation is awesome; I like the idea of having no HUD, they are giving you the pleasure to see the game on your entire screen, and if you have a 52" you will know what I mean. The graphics, the creepy atmosphere, the sound design, the varied gameplay , the shooting requirement to kill those alien-humanoid creatures, all add up to give you a game you will enjoy. You will find yourself pushing further and further to know what happened here, how those guys became those monsters, and where the hek is Nicole, the protagonist girlfriend.

Couple of things I did not like about the game, do not get me wrong here, it's not about the gameplay or the story, it's about the game objectives you accomplish during the campaign. After discovering that the ship is infected with those alien-humanoid creatures, the decided to leave the ship, I agree with them, but because they crashed into Ishimura they have to fix it first, till now is fine. Ok "objective A: fix that thing so we can fly, after fixing it, Ahh, it is not working might be because of B, go and fix B. Sh*t, C need some fuel, go and get some…etc etc."

I hope you got what I mean. The problems you need to fix felt like monotonous, it is all about fixing stuff, however they way you approach the problem felt varied and not repetitive. Indeed travelling through the ship you will come across, audio, video and text logs that will give you an idea about what was happening on the ship. One minor note, the subtitles was not synchronized properly; this might cause some confusion for non English native speakers like me, but not a big deal.

One last note, I think it would be nicer if they encouraged the player to explore the ship more. Instead showing you which way to go, find your way to the assigned objective in the map.

All in all, great game and must play. I am looking forward to Dead Space 2, hek.. who does not.
