Atmospherically intense, innovative interface and... really repetitive.

Storyline: You're sent to recon with a deep space mining station. When you get there you find no life, aside from what appears to be a host of mutated people who aren't happy that you're there... and are very hungry.

Pros: One of a kind interface, great visuals and very engrossing (and gross) environment. Game does a great job making you jump from time to time, but does so without throwing cheap-shots that leave you with bald patches. Graphically superior to most other games, wonderful use of lighting to create a spooky environment. Item/Upgrade system is a great addition and the RPG fan in me approves. Innovative quest guidance system keeps you from roaming hours aimlessly. Combat is fun...at first.

Cons: 12 levels, and they all feel the same. Upfront, I loved it, and by the time the game was nearing the end, I was just wondering how much gamestop was giving for the trade-in. the story itself was not bad, however it moved way too slowly, and the early sub-plots were not entertaining. Several of the boss-fights were either lackluster, or more tedious than challenging.

Other thoughts: Game does a great job creating environment, but because that environment never changes, it gets stale. Took me 14 hours to beat on medium difficulty. Mass effect is a more rewarding experiance.
