Thrilling!

In a thrilling mystery, full of survival horror and adventure elements that made Resident Evil and Silent Hill instant hits, Dead Space brings in a new era of survival horror. Drawing on silver screen influences such as Aliens and Event Horizon, Dead Space follows the tale of Isaac Clarke, who along with his team, boards the U.S.G. Ishimura planet "planet cracker" ship, on a repair mission. But for Isaac, it's also a rescue mission: his girlfriend, Nicole was stationed aboard the Ishimura as a medical officer, and all contact has been lost with the ship. After boarding, everything goes almost literally becomes an alien/zombie/thingamabob bachelor party of death, mutilation, and/or otherwise. You get many different weapons throughout the game, including the Plasma Cutter (equivalent of a pistol), the Pulse Rifle, the Ripper (best described as the kinetic chainsaw thing), the Line Gun (best described as the ultra-super shotgun), the Force gun, and the Contact Beam (they do pretty much the same thing except the Contact Beam charges up...). The game isn't particularly scary, unless you put it on the hardest difficulty, and the chills and thrills are endless. But still if you haven't played the game before, some unsuspecting corners and bridges will hold some surprises for the easily-scared players. When it comes to the enemies, you get a pretty unique experience with opponents that are infected humans that have become alien-like in very zombie kind of way (called necromorphs), and each one is different in every way. Drawing away from the typical "shoot the head" survival horror experience, you have to remove the limbs of the enemies so they can no longer chase you. However, it can be quite frustrating when they won't die. One enemy is basically "normal," if you will, that will just run at you and attack with their claws for arms. Some are dog-human baby like, that run on all fours and have three tentacle like things that it attacks you with. Some are fat, and very much like the "normal" enemies, except that when you kill them they might give birth to small, little parasitic beings. There are a few others, but there is one in particular that will give you a hard time...for a long time. On Visceral Games' part, they have created an excellent game. As for EA, they've got an excellent game on their hands with great potential for the future.
