A nice take on the action/horror genre.

I was quickly drawn in by the extreme graphic detail in Dead Space. The interest interpretation of a HUD amused me through out the whole game. Though the story seemed a little to familiar, reminding me often of Doom 3. Dead space made up for with a fun physics, interesting abilities, and creative weaponry.
As the video game industry begins to sway away from the basic heads up display and create their own ideas, based on what works best for their game. I can't contain my need to test out everything about it. In Dead Space your characters health is displayed by bright blue tube running down his suit. You are also give one other reference bar on your HUD. This is the power from which you draw from to use abilities that your suit is capable of.
Not only the has the HUD been built from scratch, the menu used for equipping weapons, checking the map and checking any data gathered, is equally creative. It pops up as a hologram and does not act as a pause screen. Which makes it much hard to use items in your inventory, while in the midst of a fight.
The story line of the game is very is much like any scifi-horror game. But it does it's job off keeping the player interested in what will come next. I still feel that many parts felt to similar to Doom 3. Though every time you think that the story has become slightly stale you are given a task which uses some of the fun suit abilities or incorporates some of the aspects that be found in space. I felt that the suit abilities were not extremely innovative. Yet, made the game more interesting.
Dead Space is definitely worth one play through and possibly two. I can't help but love the game. All in all the game is definitely a solid tittle and is worthy of respect.
