Dead space 3 what happened?

The visuals are impressive, just as the enemies look completely convincing. Floating around in space in DS3 never looked so good before. The controls are decent, and the game runs alright with a controller or a keyboard and mouse configuration.

Now with the gameplay things go downhill from there. Two guys get in your apartment and put a gun to your head to follow them. Later you discover that the girl who you supposedly bonded with in the previous game has decided to dump you despite your heroic attempt to woo her. But as awesome as Isaac is, he still pursues her and agrees to carry out her bidding.

The game does it's best to separate you from people even though at times it's a bit overboard. I still remember when DS2 was a delight to me. Where you had your guns and your bolts and called it a day. This isn't the case with DS3, all your guns are taken away from you and replaced with a bench. I wonder who came up with this idea as it is really ridiculous. The game throws tons of enemies at you all while you engage them with the first rifle you had for 5 chapters in the game!

You no longer wield the guns you want but rather only wield 2 guns with a primary and secondary fire. If you wanted a plasma cutter and a shredder, you will be forced to choose between the 2 as they are both primary fire mechanisms. It's as if the game continually attempts to ridicule your efforts to survive by frustrating you. Among other things saving you are no longer unable to save your progress but work through check points. What if want have something to do that demands my attention. Should i be forced to play until i get to a checkpoint?

It would be a lie to say that the horror aspect remains intact in DS3. This is all thanks to the CO-OP mode and the human enemies that fight you.Missions have become tedious. Get from point A to B, climb a ladder, solve a puzzle, get to point A again then climb a ladder again. Some of the elements used in the game were totally unnecessary. Most of these were overused over and over again which made the game look like a chore. One instance was mountain climbing which was one heck of a task as the controls were really poor.

At the end of it all, we cannot really say there are any 'real' boss fights in this game (well if it isn't the 4 legged creature that keeps running away every time you try to kill it). If a game really succeeds in bringing me to play it again then i am sure that game would really be a successful game. I cannot say the same for DS3. I doubt i will ever bring myself to play it ever again or even recommend anyone to invest their time in it.
