Dead Space 3 went dead... and not even in space.
Suddenly the entire survival horror idea went down the toilet and we got a forced co-op or you can't see 1/3 of the game.... you quiet litteraly stand near the door... RIGHT THERE... and it tells you that "Ya need someone to hold yar pants maty! To enter..." What is this?
Level design is boring and any sense of thrill is gone with the wind. You are thrown into superficial waves of enemies from directions you can tell a mile away, oh and you are warned when they spawn... god forbid someone would get suprised. The only thing you think while mowing down enemies is how much tungsten you need for the next shiny weapon.You spend more time in a frozen WASTEland then in space... these little mini meters like oxygen then temperature are there for 2 chapters and then gone to never show up again. Entire game is spent in a boring rocky mountains with snow obstructing any kind of view. All you got is snow. Marvelous. Levels are also extremely repetitive the layout barely changes in some chapters. You are in space for less then 20% of the game. Anything inside is again boring and extremely repetitive with layout never changing. Open space is fun as always... get inside and you are instantly sad and in need of reminder what is it that you were fixing this time around... oh right... some plating... no wait... some keys?... or was it charts... did i refuel that ship? Or did I need to go back for the 10th time now? Oh and "cool" looking suits are replaced by horrible looking ones, at least in my personal opinion. Nothing interesting to see in the entire game past the little time you spend in space at the beginning of the game. And I'm still curious what kind of "scientists" would build their research center on top of a steep mountain on a planet where weather conditions destroyed more equipment and manpower then insanity followed by cannibals followed by monsters plus old monster. Seems to make less sense then building a wind turbine in-doors or a solar power generator inside a cave.
And the characters... oh god... This is how you throw characters that people forget in mere seconds. Not a single note worthy character that you would recall a day after you finish this horrendous mix of bad ideas.
Sure you got a bloody huge selection of weaponry. Or to be specific 2 weapon types heavy and light. Each can have 2 guns mashed together and called innovation. Where is the innovation exactly? Half of the stuff is useless if you do the math. The other half is useful for very particular situations. Boss fights are also horrible. A giant drill? Seriously? That is so out place.
And the most frustrating thing is the forced on co-op. Why in gods sake would you want dead space with co-op. It was all about solitary survival of one man against very bad odds. Now you get this... As if enemies dropping so much junk on "impossible" that I litterally left trails of health packs... so much for "scares resources".
And no... you can't complete the game solo. No way, no how. Co-op or you will miss 1/3 of unlocables/collectibles and half of side missions.
R.I.P. Dead Space. Yet another victim of corporate meat grinder known as EA.
