After two Dead Space (DS) games, this one naturally evolves into a more action packed game. It takes on more of the characteristics of a typical shooter game, less as a horror-survival game. DS1 immerses you into terror. But, some shock of it is gone by DS2, so DS2 immerses you into horrific atmosphere and shores up the story. DS3 brings new shocks, but mostly its about building weapons and shooting new bad guys. In DS3 you have to battle other soldiers who fire back. It's interesting to hear them freak out over the Marker's monsters, then turn around and continue to defend it. Along with a typical shooter style game, you get a co-op. Unfortunately, there some sections where you HAVE to have co-op to play. The game lost a "0.5" in my score for blocking those sections to a single player. The game itself is very engaging as a shooter and the new weapons crafting makes trying out different weapons fun. You get some space action and then frozen planet action. It's a good mix. The Dead Space developers continue to make a fantastic series; one that I will continue to enjoy playing.
