Absurdly difficult--to the point of not being fun.

I probably should not even review this since I only played it for about an hour...but the fact that I could not continue is reason for me to pass along my experience. This game is absurdly unbalanced. The first major fight (maybe 20 minutes into the game) is basically you armed with some .45's (and not much ammo) against about 20 guys who have AK-47's and shotguns. No, stealth will not help you. You start out in the middle of a cavernous room on the ground floor while most of these guys are in the balconies. And when you run out of bullets, you can "disarm" someone. Nice try running up to the guy with the AK and the unlimited ammo and trying to take his gun. Like taking a knife to a gunfight except you do not get a knife. Needless to say, despite multiple attempts, I never got past this fight. The kills were constant and cheap and I am pretty sure I found all the health and armor to be found. Beyond that, this game wants to be Max Payne, but Payne was a much fairer and much better game. Same flat acting. Same gritty environments. Same cop gone over the edge theming. But Payne used a workable shooting and targeting system which Dead to Rights does not. And Payne was playable and winnable while remaining challenging. This game is not playable and overly challenging. Graphics are weak for XBOX standards. The music is decent. Nothing here that has not been done better somewhere else. It's a low rent Max Payne...except Payne is selling at the same price. If you want this kind of experience, get the real deal and skip this hollow imitation. You against the world can be fun...but only when you have a chance to win.
