The reason I ask is that Deathrow sports much of the same content as that film... granted the film is profoundly anti-violence in its theme, and this game is... ummm, not so much. However, moral dilemmas aside, this is far and away the most rib-cracking, curb-stomping, and foul-mouthed sports game in Xbox history. As a gamer who has spent his share of sleepless nights slapping the @#%# out of the many opponents this game has to offer, I can honestly say that this a sorely overlooked gem of a game. There is a loose plot, but I would never recommend this to somebody who requires a Killer7 or Indigo Prophecy type of story to accompany their games. No, this game is all about pure animalistic aggression and over-the-top brutality... still reading? Good, because if you are, let me assure you that this game is quality through and through, and your hard-earned greens won't go to waste on this. The gameplay is fantastically responsive, lightning-paced, and just completely cool. The graphics are great (not Ninja Gaiden, but you won't miss them simply because you're too busy handing out vicious beat-downs to notice anything other than the bloodstains in the arena). The audio is awesome as well... afterall, any game that dedicates a button solely to verbally abusing your opponent earns itself a great rating here in my opinion. Value is through the roof considering that this game is out of print, and the only place I've ever seen it is in bargain bins... couple that with many hours of single and multiplayer gameplay (the multiplayer is unreal, by the way) and you've got a hands-down winner here. If you're a sports fan with leftover anger from the hockey lockout, get this game!!!!
Deathrow is destined to be the XBox's most cruelly overlooked game of the first generation. There is so much to this game it's criminally negligent the way UBiSoft pretty much threw it out there and let it sink with... Read Full Review
