Playing a game shouldn't be a chore.
However, the actual game is just a bit pants really. The graphics are okayish for a PlayStation 1 game, they never truly bug you but never truly stand out due to the bland nature of the settings (how pretty can a dungeon truly look?). There are some interesting enemies, and for a dungeon the locations are surprisingly varied.
The game's main fun is in repetitive hack and slash action as you slice through an assortment of creatures while engaging in some limited platforming and some rather brainless puzzles. There are some spells and weapons on hand to vary the experience, the warpig for example is probably the best thing about the whole game. Yes, war - pig.
The main thing that bugged me about the game was the controls. They just seemed a little clumsy and unresponsive to me. Many was the time I had to climb all the way back to the top of a room 'cause my character kept throwing himself off the edge of the random floating platform thing. Basically, imagine Tomb Raider's controls but in a hack and slash game.
I'm slightly fond of the game due to the fantasy setting and occasionally crack it out to slaughter some goblin things, but it's just a little too boring to warrant my attention for long. Probably worth getting if you really like Tomb Raider, Ian Livingstone and dungeons.
