FFNYTT is a slightly watered down port that deserves to be played, other than that, a great fighting game on its own
For people that did not play the original game, the PSP has the same gameplay, of course as always minus the right analog stick. Even with the obvious disadvantages with hardware the control of your character feels solid and the combat is deep and diverse. You start off as more or less a rookie recently off the streets and are catapulted into a world of underground fighting. Now you get to fight and meet tons of real life rap singers which represent themselves or a character from the game. As you go along you get to earn money and development points that you can spend customizing you character. At the beginning of the game you get to create your character and chose a fighting style. From there and after winning some fights you can purchase moves and different clothes and bling for your character, purchasing cloth and jewelry helps you towards getting respect and development points, the more expensive items are the best. All in all the gameplay is simply great at first it's a little difficult but after a while you start getting the hang of it and really enjoying the game and it is nicely complemented by the sound track and the nice graphics.
Def Jam fight for NY is one of the best fighting games for the PSP, its deep combat tree and well implemented rap ambiance into the gameplay make a very unique fighting experience that is highly recommendable.
