One of the best in the series.
In DefJamFightforNY, you are some guy who saves a powerful thug leader from getting arrested. Don't tell me how though. He just does it for no reason. Anyways, so after he saves the thug leader "D-Mob". D-mob let's your character join his group and to fight against Crow "Snoop Dogg", which is the thug leader of the opposing group, they're fighting for the rights of the streets of New York City.
So after the opening scene and character creation, you are in your new crib. An apartment in some random part of the city. In your crib you have got a map which takes you to all the stores and fights youre signed up for. there is also a little tmobile sidekick you can use to talk with your other thug accomplices. Including some like MethodMan and Ludacris. You've also got a wardrobe for when you have bought some new gear. I think it's awesome they have a little crib thing, it's like your whole control point.
Fighting in DefJam FFNY is a really good system, all though you can't give your opponent a 60 hit combo, you can give him a 5 hit combo which looks like he just got rammed in the face by a charging bull on steroids. You can grab your opponent, send them to the wall and smash their face in, you can give your opponent a swift kick in the nuts too. Also, you have 5 different fighting styles to choose from, Streetfighting, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Submission, Martial Arts. Theyre all balanced styles and are all inovative to use, not to mention you can combine them to make like Streetboxing Martial Wrestling Arts or something like that. All the other characters that come with the game have their own fighting style too, which fits all of them. So you don't have to worry, there is always a 50/50 chance you'll win.
The sounds in DefJamFFNY are also great, the voice acting is done by mostly rappers from DefJam records so you know it's good. You can really distinguish if someones arm just got broken to pieces or if they crushed their face. The taunts are pretty funny too. If you win, your'e character says a little phrase that's mostly funny. Graphics for this game are what should be expected, not Re4 but it's nice for gamecube. Atleast they don't look like polygonal dog turds.
