I have always been a fan of the old AKI wrestling games for the Nintendo 64. WCW/nWo Revenge, WWF Wrestlemania 2000, and WWF No Mercy were all excellent because the WRESTLING engine was nearly flawless. Well, Def Jam Vendetta sports a very similar engine, but instead of using hairy men in tights, you do battle with rappers. I think I speak for many gamers that I was delighted when I heard this game was coming out, because it has been a dream of mine for many years to put a beat down on Joe Budden with Ludacris.... Anyways, Def Jam Vendetta is a very solid wrestling game. I love a lot of the over the top moves, especially any manuever which involves a sudden blow to the crotch. DJV looks great, as all the Def Jam artists featured bare a pretty good resemblance to their real life counterparts. And although I could go without the heavily edited, highly repeated audio tracks, I liked the music for the most part. Def Jam Vendetta might be a little tough for the casual gamer, but anyone who loves a great fighting/wrestling game, and can tolerate the constant rap music, DJV will be one of your favorite games.
