Good simple wrestling game!
User Rating: 8.4 | Def Jam Vendetta PS2
Vendetta is a good yet simple game of wrestling. Instead of a roster of wrestlers, you have random gangsters / thugs and a dozen or so real Rappers from the Def Jam label. This game could of been a real stinker but it's surprisingly fun to play and grows on you once you discover the nuance of the fighting system. The graphics & sound are really great for a 2003 game.. the character models are very well done and all Rappers look just like they should, the music is excellent (Gonna make me loose my mind... UP IN HERE UP IN HERE!) and even features a couple of old school tracks. The flow of the fights is great.. some of these moves are crazy... especially the Blazin' ones! You can either win (or loose) by submission, PIN or KO (you need to do a special move while the other character has extremely low health).
This game features a nice lengthy story mode, which becomes a real challenge towards the end. You get a survival mode, exhibition matches and you can even hook up with 4 friends for some 2 on 2 tag team battles.
I said earlier that this was a simple game of wrestling because it lacks of a create-a-wrestling mode (you have 4 characters to choose from in Story mode) and there's not a lot of game modes (no ladder matches, cage matches). At least the Story mode is enjoyable.
For under 10$ at the local video game store, I gave this game a chance and i really enjoyed it. I will definitely get my hands on it's superior sequel Fight for NY.
