$50? Are you kidding me?!

This is a rental. Should I say it again? Ok, this is a rental. At best, this should be picked up at your local game rental establishment. I'm sure most of you have played any one of the GTA games. If so, you start to see where they got their inspiration for this game from. They have it set up where the game flows by missions. Every time you complete a mission, you have a chance to free roam around the area causing mayhem & destruction to your heart's content. They have a warning system of your "wanted level" just like they do in GTA, only here it warns you of your town awareness levels. The higher your awareness levels determines which branch of the government is looking for you. You spend most of your mission time on the ground being either quite destructive or incognito, blending in with your surroundings and collecting data. Post mission destruction time will most likely be spent in your UFO, flying around and demolishing the humans' society. You can buy upgrades for your ship, upgrades for your hand guns, and even upgrades for your psychic abilities. And they give you rewards for your efforts in the forms of old B-movies and behind the scenes looks at Destroy All Humans. I know what your saying: Wow that seems like a lot of stuff you keep you entertained. Why the hell didn't you like it, chicknfeet? The game got old very quick. Again, for those of you that have played a GTA game, do you remember what there was to do when you didn't have a specific mission you were working on? That's right, go around and kill people. How long did it take for you to get bored with just killing people? 1, maybe 2 solid hours? Unfortunately that's what this whole game feels like. It even warns you in the title, "Destroy All Humans". That's what you do during the entire game, destroy all humans. It gets tedious and boring after the thousandth head explosion. There was definitely a lack in variety when they were coming up with the game plan. Graphically, the game looks great. I played the PS2 version but apparently, the XBox version is a little more smooth. The aliens look like the typical 1950's rendition of the big eyed, grey skinned little people. The towns were well built and the environment was large enough to do some significant exploring. There was a nice variation in the residents of the different towns, however, it was hard sometimes to see their facial expressions (or their faces in most cases). And the final boss cut scene was beautifully done. The game ran fairly smooth from frame to frame, although it did crash on me once. The sound matched the game very well. The voice acting was definitely acceptable and the sound effects were on par. Guns for the most part sounded like a video game gun should sound, tank shots sounded like tank shots, panicking people sounded like they were confused and terrified. Graphically and sound wise, the game excelled. A lot of people said this game was too short. This game couldn't have been sort enough for me. The pace was just so sluggish, anybody with A.D.D. should avoid this. I'll say it one more time since you didn't pay any attention to me in the beginning: This is a rental.
