Destroy All Humans! up a variety of weapons, comedy, and destuction. All of this helps cover up the minor flaws.

User Rating: 7.4 | Destroy All Humans! PS2
In this game, you get to take control of an alien from the Furon race. It's name is Crypto, and he's got one thing on it's mind. DESTRUCTION! You'll go through missions in different regions of the U.S.A as you try to rid the planet of humans and politicians.

The majority of the game will be spent on foot (or using the jetpack) to complete your mission. Controls are accurate and useful. The camera works very well and is also used to target your enemies. Most of the missions are entertaining, but sometimes they will seem a little too bland. Completing missions can be done by either blasting away everything in sight, or by using stealth and going unnoticed by your enemies. There is a nice variety of weapons and most of them are useful.

Some missions will require you to make use of your UFO in order to complete the mission. The UFO has very powerful weapons and can destroy entire buildings in a matter of seconds. The use of the UFO adds great depth to the game, but unfortunately is not used in missions very often.

Upgrades to your weapons and UFO can be purchased on the mother ship. These upgrades are worth every penny, as they can add power and quantity to your weapons. DNA is used as a form of currency in order to purchase these upgrades. You collect DNA from the humans by taking their brain stems. The Anal Probe is the most rewarding way to collect the brain stems, but can also be a little risky. The easiest way is by natural extraction using Crypto's mind powers.

The game's visuals are quite stunning at times. The lighting effects used are beautiful. There is decent detail to attention, but many of these small details are used over and over. For example: Many buildings have the same sign at the front entrance. Crypto looks amazing, with light reflecting off of his head and eyes. It's apparent that Pandemic Studios was obsessed with the detail to Crypto's appearance, and they did a fantastic job of designing his model. Unfortunately, other models are not so detailed. Most vehicles are too plain and the human characters all seem too ordinary.

The music adds a great touch to the atmosphere, as the games uses creepy pitches in the music to create a perfect sci-fi sound. The acting done by the characters is great, especially with the Furons. The comedy definitely sparkles from the aliens race. The humans also create their own comedy, but most of it has to be explored by digging into the thoughts of the humans.

The game can become very fun, even if some of the missions are too plain. After each mission is completed, you can continue destroying humans at your own leisure. You might find yourself getting carried away with this freedom, especially in the UFO. This can add for a few extra hours to the game, which is a good thing because the missions will go by quickly and the game can be beat in less than 10 hours. In order to add a little more value to the game, you can try collecting all of the hidden probes in each level to unlock certain content.

Overall, this game is a lot of fun to play. Unfortunately, it goes by too fast and some of it feels the same. Otherwise, the game is very entertaining and throws out a lot of laughs. Just a little hint: Try giving a small-burst Anal Probe shot to one of the suburban women, and see how much they like it. LOL
